Central MA · Worcester County, Massachusetts

Stone patios, walls & walkways in Berlin, MA.

A small orchard town of drumlin hills and antique farmhouses where estate-scale stonework settles naturally into old New England ground. We have been building stone across Central MA since 2008, and in Berlin that means working over well-drained stony glacial till on the hills — the same ground that grows the orchards — over granite ledge that surfaces on the slopes, around rolling drumlin hills and orchard uplands around Sawyer Hill, drained by brooks that feed the Assabet River, and to the standard the restored eighteenth- and nineteenth-century colonials and farmhouses on the orchard ridges here expect.

It depends on the season and the size of the scope. Berlin sits in Worcester County, Massachusetts, and we schedule by region so travel and material delivery stay efficient — we will give you a real date rather than an optimistic one.

Constantly. We routinely execute plans for landscape architects and designers, building to spec with millimeter precision — much of our work in ongoing collaboration with Jonathan Keep Landscape Design.

A natural-stone patio typically runs $30–$60+ per square foot installed. In Berlin the swing usually comes from access and from how deep we have to excavate over well-drained stony glacial till on the hills — the same ground that grows the orchards — over granite ledge that surfaces on the slopes — you get an itemized scope after we walk the property.

The restored eighteenth- and nineteenth-century colonials and farmhouses on the orchard ridges here set the direction, and rolling drumlin hills and orchard uplands around Sawyer Hill, drained by brooks that feed the Assabet River sets the scale. That usually means hand-set fieldstone and bluestone detailed to look original to the house rather than applied to it.
