Douglas wraps around its namesake state forest and the Wallum Lake Atlantic white cedar swamp, so the conservation commission watches wetlands closely, and we build stone that survives the wet, ledge-bound ground it sits on. And because the land here is rocky glacial till with frequent ledge outcrops on the wooded uplands, turning wet along the Mumford River and cedar swamps, we plan the base and drainage for those conditions from the first day on site.
