North Suburbs · Middlesex County, Massachusetts

Stone patios, walls & walkways in Melrose, MA.

In Melrose, stonework answers to hilly ground wedged between the Middlesex Fells and Mount Hood, with tight, sloping in-town lots under a mature tree canopy and to shallow glacial till over the granite and volcanic ledge of the Fells underneath it. A close-in Victorian streetcar suburb whose best streets carry stately Queen Annes and colonial revivals that reward stonework built to match their age and craftsmanship. We build the whole range — terraces, walls, walks, steps, and pool surrounds — much of it alongside Jonathan Keep Landscape Design.

Yes. Melrose is essentially built out and historically minded, so tight setbacks, ledge, and grade changes are the real constraints, and we design walls and terraces to fit older homes and steep in-town lots without looking new. And because the land here is shallow glacial till over the granite and volcanic ledge of the Fells, which drains unevenly and demands a properly engineered base, we plan the base and drainage for those conditions from the first day on site.

A natural-stone patio typically runs $30–$60+ per square foot installed. In Melrose the swing usually comes from access and from how deep we have to excavate over shallow glacial till over the granite and volcanic ledge of the Fells — you get an itemized scope after we walk the property.

We serve all of Melrose — from Melrose Highlands, Mount Hood, and Wyoming — and the surrounding North Suburbs towns, working from our base in Marlborough, MA. Cleiton Landscape & Masonry has hand-built stone patios, walls, and walkways across the region since 2008.

Constantly. We routinely execute plans for landscape architects and designers, building to spec with millimeter precision — much of our work in ongoing collaboration with Jonathan Keep Landscape Design.
