Stone patios, walls & walkways in Oxford, MA.

A French River town first settled by Huguenots, where the nicest homes crown North Oxford's wooded rises and stonework is expected to age quietly into the landscape. From our base in Marlborough, Cleiton Landscape & Masonry hand-builds patios, walls, and walkways across Oxford’s rolling uplands and drumlins flanking the French River lowland — set on stony glacial till over granite ledge with sandy outwash along the river, matched to its Federal and Greek Revival homesteads, center-chimney colonials, and custom capes on North Oxford acreage, and built in ongoing collaboration with Jonathan Keep Landscape Design.

Yes. The Oxford Main Street Historic District and a conservation commission overseeing the French River and Buffumville wetlands mean setbacks and drainage are scrutinized, so we build bases to survive that review. And because the land here is stony glacial till over granite ledge with sandy outwash along the river, an uneven mix that rewards a deep, engineered base, we plan the base and drainage for those conditions from the first day on site.

The Federal and Greek Revival homesteads here set the direction, and rolling uplands and drumlins flanking the French River lowland, with home lots set on well-drained slopes above the valley floor sets the scale. That usually means hand-set fieldstone and bluestone detailed to look original to the house rather than applied to it.

It depends on the season and the size of the scope. Oxford sits in Worcester County, Massachusetts, and we schedule by region so travel and material delivery stay efficient — we will give you a real date rather than an optimistic one.

Constantly. We routinely execute plans for landscape architects and designers, building to spec with millimeter precision — much of our work in ongoing collaboration with Jonathan Keep Landscape Design.
