Nashoba Valley · Middlesex County, Massachusetts

Stone patios, walls & walkways in Shirley, MA.

A quiet town of preserved historic homes and gentleman's-farm acreage where stonework is expected to look as old as the houses it serves. We have been building stone across Nashoba Valley since 2008, and in Shirley that means working over rocky glacial till on the hills with sandy outwash along the Nashua and Squannacook rivers, around rolling glacial uplands that drop to the Nashua River lowland along the eastern edge of town, and to the standard the gracious Federal and Greek Revival homes around Shirley Center alongside restored farmhouses on wooded acreage here expect.

Stonework in Shirley, answered.

Yes. Shirley Center is a preserved historic district, and the Squannacook and Nashua rivers put wetlands buffers and conservation-commission review over much of the town, so we build bases engineered to pass that scrutiny. And because the land here is rocky glacial till on the hills with sandy outwash along the Nashua and Squannacook rivers, draining unevenly and rewarding a deep engineered base, we plan the base and drainage for those conditions from the first day on site.

We serve all of Shirley — from Shirley Center, Shirley Village, and Shaker Village — and the surrounding Nashoba Valley towns, working from our base in Marlborough, MA. Cleiton Landscape & Masonry has hand-built stone patios, walls, and walkways across the region since 2008.

The gracious Federal and Greek Revival homes around Shirley Center alongside restored farmhouses on wooded acreage here set the direction, and rolling glacial uplands that drop to the Nashua River lowland along the eastern edge of town sets the scale. That usually means hand-set fieldstone and bluestone detailed to look original to the house rather than applied to it.

It depends on the season and the size of the scope. Shirley sits in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, and we schedule by region so travel and material delivery stay efficient — we will give you a real date rather than an optimistic one.
